Call our professional arborists for tree care tips you can use on any aged tree.
Whether you have newer trees or lofty, mature trees, learning to care for your trees can ensure they live a long and thriving life! At Hudson Tree Services, our arborists are here to help you with any of your tree care needs that you might require some assistance with. However, there are also some tree care tips that you can handle on your own in between visits from an arborist.
First, make sure that you keep your younger trees well-watered and protected so that they can properly take root. A new tree can require as much as 95 litres of water per week when freshly planted! If it’s not raining, you might want to take matters into your own hand with a garden hose turned on low, a watering bag, or a large bucket with small holes in the bottom to let the water slowly drain.
The next thing you’ll want to do is take measures to give your tree some protection while it’s growing and developing. Windy areas can benefit from some stakes around your tree until it’s more firmly rooted. If you have lots of wildlife or worry about damaging your new tree with yard equipment, try staking a small fence around your tree’s trunk. Finally, don’t forget to add mulch to the base of your tree so it doesn’t lose moisture through evaporation.
